             Let us Entertain you.

The purpose of the Craven Alliance for Arts and Culture is to provide support for regional non-profit cultural arts organizations and to foster partnerships.

The Alliance provides leadership and awareness for the arts and is focused on stimulating economic development and strengthening the quality of life throughout Craven County.

300 Years of Art & Culture.

Experience a culture steeped in 300 years of history and tradition.  Craven County bears the name of William, Earl of Craven, one of the eight  original Lord Proprietors of the province of Carolina, and his nephew,  William, Lord Craven, who succeeded him as Lord Proprietor. Established  in 1712, Craven County was the site of North Carolina's first capitol,  New Bern. Founded in 1710 by Baron Christopher de Graffenried of Bern, Switzerland, New Bern is the second oldest town in North Carolina and the first state capital.

Art

Picture
Craven County is an environment where the arts thrive, bring joy, and enrich the cultural experiences of our citizens. New Bern is an up and coming venue for the arts and artists with galleries and art studios, festivals, and special events year round. Public art is popping up everywhere, including a fun project of painted themed and character BEARS.

History

Picture
Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens offers a taste of life in Colonial America.  You might enjoy the architectural beauty and charm of our four National Register Historic Districts, stroll through New Bern's historic revitalized downtown, or rediscover our state’s history through technology and innovation at the NC History Center.

Performance

Picture
Eastern North Carolina is thriving with local talent providing theatre stages, street music or a concert in the park. In Craven County, live musical venues,  active local theatres, and festivals with performances attract audiences from neighboring regions.
